St Mary’s carol singing fundraiser

St Mary's Carol Singing

A huge thank you to St Mary’s Frittenden who raised £766 for St George’s through their annual carol singing event.

Tony Staples, a reader at St Mary’s, organised the fundraiser which saw carol singers visit 90 houses over four nights in December. The village tradition has been dating back to at least the 1940s, and St George’s have been their charity of choice for many years.

Tony said: “As we go round the houses we hope we spread some Christmas cheer to the people we visit, and to enjoy some seasonal refreshments!

“We feel St George’s subsidised childcare places scheme is a very practical means of giving help to vulnerable youngsters in a caring and professional way. We hope that our carol singing funds – in a very small way – will enable a few children to have a better start in life.”

Ellie Stewart, St George’s Fundraising and Development Manager, said: “We’re so grateful to St Mary’s and all the Frittenden residents who helped raise such a fantastic amount for St George’s.

“It will all go towards providing very low cost and free childcare to local families facing real difficulties. We’re able to support up to 30 families each year through this scheme, and it’s all thanks to the generosity of our supporters.”
