Congratulations Clive – London Marathon 2026!

A huge well done to Clive, one of our parents who ran the 2026 TCS London Marathon on behalf of St George’s on Sunday 26 April.
We are absolutely delighted to share that Clive successfully completed the 26.2 mile course in 4 hours 51 minutes and 27 seconds. What a fantastic achievement!
Thank you, Clive, for your commitment, determination and the many hours spent training over the past few months. So far, Clive has raised over £1,700, but donations are still coming in!
We are incredibly grateful to Clive for setting himself this huge personal challenge and dedicating his sponsorship money to St George’s. If you would like to support Clive, there is still time to donate – please visit his fundraising page via this link: sponsor Clive.
Here are some words from Clive himself about his motivation to complete his very first marathon:
“Hi everyone,
I’m Clive and I’m running the 2026 TCS London Marathon on Sunday 26th April, to raise money for St George’s Childcare.
Having ran a half marathon in Kuala Lumpur and then two half marathons during the 2020 lockdowns I’ve always thought one day I’d like to complete a full marathon. It was when we went up to London a few years ago to cheer on some friends participating in the London marathon, experiencing the general atmosphere and positivity of the event, that made me think running the London marathon would be the most amazing experience. Having then applied in the ballot each year (and subsequently been rejected each year) I was overjoyed to have been picked to run for St George’s Nursery in the 2026 London Marathon.
Our daughter Amelia has attended St George’s since September 2024 and has not only grown and learnt various skills during her day to day attendance but also absolutely loves every day that she attends. I’m sure that having the knowledge that every pound raised will be helping out other babies, toddlers, and children who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to attend St George’s (or nursery in general) and share in this joy, will be instrumental in pushing me towards the finish line. I feel privileged to be able to not only finally run the London marathon, but also to be able to raise money in order to give other children a similar experience to what Amelia experiences.
If you can sponsor me, please donate using the button below. All donations will be matched by my employer, Deucalion Aviation Limited, meaning for every £10 donated, St George’s will receive £20.”

St George’s is the only nursery locally that is a charity; allowing us to put the children first in all our decision making, to charge parents a fair price for childcare and to reinvest any surplus into improving the setting for the benefit of all of the children.
St George’s also provide subsidised, sometimes completely free, places for children who are in vulnerable circumstances, all paid for by our community fundraising activities. Where funding allows we also provide one to one support for our SEND children, to ensure they have all their needs met while they’re at the setting. We work closely with social services, health visitors and the women’s refuge to support children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford nursery education. Many children come to us from unstable homes where parents are dealing with difficult issues. While the children are in our care, their families have the time and space to get the help they need to move on in their lives.
All the money Clive has raised will make a huge positive impact to all the families who use our childcare services and to families going through difficult circumstances that are receiving our support to see them through the most challenging times.
