Congratulations to our Tunbridge Wells Marathon Runners

On Sunday 18th February, three intrepid runners joined the 1400 participants in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon. Sarah, Kelvin and Andy have so far raised over £1500 for St George’s Childcare.

It was the 35th Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon, organised by Tunbridge Wells Harriers, and the runners were blessed with beautiful weather. The 13.1 mile circular route on closed roads winds through Southborough, Bidborough and Penshurst and features the notoriously challenging Spring Hill.

St George’s Communications and Operations Manager Sarah Plimmer completed the race in 2 hours 40 mins and has raised over £400 in sponsorship. She said: “I feel very happy to have completed the race. I’ve learned a lot about running that I’ll be able to use for runs in the future.

“The second half of the course, after mile 7, was a killer – largely due to Spring Hill. After that it was hard to get my rhythm back. But running through Penshurst village was a highlight as there was a jazz band playing outside the pub and the church bells were ringing. It was a really lovely atmosphere.

“I’m really pleased to have raised so much for St George’s, and I’d recommend running to everyone. It’s great exercise and it has so many benefits for people’s mental health.”
